What are its underlying assumptions? A complete citation for a journal article includes author, article title, title of the journal, volume number, issue number, page numbers and year. Depending on the nature of the assignment, the annotations could contain information on the purpose and scope of the work, the author’s argument and main conclusions, the concepts and methods used by the author, and the potential audience for the work. An evaluation of the authority or background of the author A comment on the intended audience A comparison of this work with another you have cited or an explanation on how this work illuminates your bibliography topic Critically Appraise the following: They may be assigned as a separate assessment task, particularly early in the semester or course to familiarise you with some of the texts. Objectivity Note whether the information is fact, opinion, or persuasive facts can usually be verified; opinions are interpretation of facts. Because annotated bibliographies are brief, you need to be selective in terms of the information you provide.
